150. Astrology Isn’t Harmless: What the Bible Really Says
What's your sign? It's a question that seems innocent enough, but behind the stylish aesthetics and personality quizzes lies a spiritual practice explicitly forbidden in Scripture. Astrology has seamlessly woven itself into mainstream culture and even Christian circles, disguised as harmless entertainment or self-discovery. But God's Word paints a dramatically different picture.
The Bible doesn't mince words about divination. From Deuteronomy's clear prohibition to Isaiah's fiery condemnation of astrologers, Scripture consistently warns believers away from seeking guidance in the stars rather than from the Holy Spirit. What many don't realize is that astrological knowledge has a dark origin story. Ancient texts like the Book of Enoch reveal how fallen angels taught humanity forbidden knowledge—including astrology—as part of a spiritual corruption that predated the flood.
This episode connects these dots between modern horoscopes and ancient deception, sharing powerful testimonies from former psychics who now follow Jesus and warn about astrology's role as a gateway to deeper occult involvement. We explore five specific spiritual dangers of astrological practices: replacing God's voice, promoting self over surrender, opening spiritual doors to demonic influence, imitating true prophecy, and becoming an idol in believers' lives.
As end-times deception increases, astrology's growing normalization—even among Christians—should concern us. Could this be part of the very deception Jesus warned about when He said the end would be "as in the days of Noah"? This isn't about condemnation for those who've dabbled in star signs or read daily horoscopes. Rather, it's a compassionate call to clarity, repentance, and renewed commitment to seeking guidance from God alone.
Ready to examine this countercultural topic through Scripture rather than culture? Join us for an eye-opening conversation about why Christians are called to stay grounded in God's Word rather than reaching for the stars. Ask yourself: What might you need to let go of to walk in full obedience to God?

The Hello and welcome to the Radiant Mission Podcast. My name is Rebecca Twomey and I've got a question for you today what's your sign? It's a question almost everyone hears at some point and for many it's just casual fun. Horoscopes, star signs, moon phases they are everywhere and sadly, even many Christians have welcomed astrology into their lives as something harmless lives as something harmless, beautiful or even spiritual. But is it? In today's episode we are taking a deep dive. Look into astrology not from the lens of pop culture or self-discovery, but through the lens of God's word. We'll talk about what the Bible actually says about the stars, divination and the spiritual dangers of following anything other than the Holy Spirit. We'll also explore how astrology connects to the Nephilim and the forbidden knowledge passed down by fallen angels, as we have been discussing in previous episodes. So definitely tune back into the last few episodes if you are just joining now, and I'm also going to share some testimonies from some ex-psychics who now follow Jesus and are sounding the alarm for the church. This is one of those countercultural topics that challenge popular thinking and within Christian circles. But if we want to truly walk in truth, we must be willing to examine everything through scripture. So let's dive right in.
Rebecca Twomey:First, I want to talk about the allure of astrology. In Christian culture, astrology is often presented as harmless, as self-discovery and as a tool to really better understand your personality or your compatibility with other people. It's kind of this stylish aesthetic and sometimes even people refer to it as empowering, and social media is full of these cute zodiac memes and daily horoscopes that make it all feel lighthearted and fun and not that serious. But the truth is that even this harmless version of astrology is rooted in divination, which is an ancient spiritual practice that the Bible explicitly tells us to stay away from. It forbids us from going down that road. It is not neutral, it is not innocent. It's a counterfeit spirituality that leads people away from God and toward false sources of truth.
Rebecca Twomey:So let's talk about what the Bible says about divination, and I want to be clear about this. The Bible repeatedly condemns astrology and divination. Deuteronomy 18, 10 through 12 says let no one be found among you who practices divination or sorcery or who interprets omens, and it says that these practices are detestable to the Lord. Isaiah 47, 13 through 14,. God is rebuking Babylon and saying let your astrologers come forward. Surely they are like stubble. The fire will burn them up. Leviticus 19, 26,. Do not practice divination or seek omens. These verses are not vague. They are not open to interpretation. God's word is clear Divination, astrology, sorcery and occult practices are not for his people. So let's talk about astrology and the Nephilim connection.
Rebecca Twomey:Back in episode 146, we talked about the book of Enoch and it reveals how fallen angels, called the watchers, descended to earth and gave humans forbidden knowledge. This included things like warfare, sorcery, enchantments and astrology. In Enoch 8.3, it says Sam Jezod taught enchantments and root cuttings, amaros, the resolving of enchantments and Barakel astrology. So astrology isn't just some neutral science. It's part of fallen angel wisdom that corrupted mankind, wisdom from angels who rebelled against God. This puts astrology in a very different light. It's not just a personality quiz from the stars. It is ancient deception.
Rebecca Twomey:An example of this is the powerful testimonies from former psychics. I have seen some voices rising, like Jen Nisa she's the founder of Ex-Psychic Saved. She is on Instagram as Ex-Psychic Saved and also Doreen Virtue. They are both former psychic mediums and they discuss astrology as well. It is a huge part of quote spiritual work or of new age, and both of these women came to know Jesus and they are now openly warning that astrology is a gateway into the occult they share.
Rebecca Twomey:How harmless tools like birth charts and horoscopes lead us deeper into darkness. It's even said that astrology can be an entry point and they are pleading with Christians to avoid it entirely. But you might be wondering, okay, god's telling us not to do this, but why? Why is astrology spiritually dangerous? I'm going to give you guys, five biblical reasons. First, it replaces the voice of God. When we seek guidance from the stars, we are not seeking the Holy Spirit. We're turning to creation instead of the creator. Second, it promotes the self over surrender. Astrology encourages self-focus. What's my sign? What do I need? How do I align with others? It keeps us looking inward and not upward. Number three it opens spiritual doors. Engaging in astrology can invite demonic influence, even unknowingly. The enemy doesn't need full access, just an open door. Number four it imitates prophecy. Astrology attempts to predict and interpret the future, but god alone knows the future. This is a false prophecy and God calls that an abomination. Number five it can become an idol. Anything we turn to for guidance, identity or truth besides God is idolatry, even if it's wrapped in aesthetically pleasing packaging.
Rebecca Twomey:Another area to discuss is astrology. In the end times. There is a prophetic connection here. In the end times, deception is going to increase. People will follow signs, wonders and counterfeit spirituality, as we are told in 2 Thessalonians 2, verses 9 through 12. As we are told in 2 Thessalonians 2, verses 9 through 12. And the rise of astrology in mainstream culture, including among Christians, is a warning. We're being conditioned to accept spiritual practices that God calls evil. And if the Nephilim were behind this deception before the flood, could we be seeing similar deceptions returning, as in the days of Noah, as is told in Matthew 24, 37.
Rebecca Twomey:It's really something to consider. We are really called to be set apart, you guys. Romans 12, 2 says do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. God has always called his people to be set apart, not to dabble in what the world embraces, even if it's trendy, even if your favorite influencer posts about moon signs and retrogrades. We are called to follow the Holy Spirit, not the stars. If you've dabbled in astrology or followed horoscopes, this isn't a message of condemnation. Let me be clear about that. This is really just a call to clarity and to repentance. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you if there's anything in your life that opens a spiritual door, and if he leads you to walk away from it, then do it.
Rebecca Twomey:I'd like to follow up with an episode a little bit more in detail on mediums, the new age and why the spiritual realm isn't something for us to be playing with. Until then, stay grounded in God's word and stay close to his voice and seek the Holy Spirit. As we close today, I have a few reflection questions. First, have I ever viewed astrology as harmless? Why Am I turning to anything other than the Holy Spirit for guidance, and what do I need to let go of to walk in full obedience to God? If this episode was interesting or sparked something, please share it with a friend. Thank you so much for tuning in today. Rebecca Twomey:I'm going to close with Isaiah 47, verses 13 through 14. You are wearied with your many counsels. Let them stand forth and save you. Those who divide the heavens, who gaze at the stars, who, at the new moons, made known what shall come upon you. Behold, they are like stubble the fire consumes them. They cannot deliver themselves from the power of the flame. I'm wishing you a radiant week and I'll see you next time. Bye.
